45 randoms about life

1. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.

3. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

4. That’s enough, Nickelback.

5. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.

6. Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the “people you may know” feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?

7. Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message board or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.

8. There is a great need for sarcasm font.

9. Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw it.

10. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

11. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

12. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

13. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I trying to finish a text.

14. Was learning cursive really necessary?

15. LOL has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”.

16. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

17. Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”.

18. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?

19. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

20. Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)…ummm…Goonies”

21. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.

22. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

23. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

24. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

25. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.

26. Bad decisions make good stories.

27. Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!

28. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say
their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem.

29. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

30. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection.

31. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

32. I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

33. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.

34. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damnit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?

35. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

36. When I meet a new person, I’m terrified of mentioning something they haven’t already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking.

37. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

38. Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…

39. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

40. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

41. Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn’t know what do to with it.

42. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time…

43. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

44. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

45. The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There’s nothing like being made to feel like a fat %$#@! before dinner.

Not my Child! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I am not super inconsistant with Not Me! Mondays, nope not me! Which is why I decided to do Not My Child! Monday, because let's face it.. I have nothing that I wouldn't be embarassed to tell you about.
---------------------------------------

The last ten times that we have been outside, my sweet clean child has not proceeded to stick his finger in, or better yet, just plain pick up dog poo. All the while, he tells us about how gross it is "ewww, gross!". Nope, he would not ever do something so discusting.
And for the record, the dog poop is always picked up right away to prevent such a problem.

While out to dinner last night, my child did not out-eat all of us. I did not let him eat half of my salad, half of his dinner of chicken tenders and green beans, half of my pork sandwich, most of Gamma's birthday ice-cream sunday, and finish it off with an oreo. We did not come home and let him eat more cake and ice-cream. He definitely has self control and surely his eyes aren't bigger than his stomach. Who says a good eater is a bad thing?

We did not buy a new toddler bed that still sits in our garage, I am not scared to switch Cayden out of his crib, and I'm definitely not just waiting for the right time. I surely trust that he will transition very easily and I wont have to fight with him.

It is not my child that sits on the potty chair while we sing the ABCs, then stands up just to pee on the floor. Nope, he already gets the idea of where you are supposed to go potty.

Happy Monday, here's to another week!

Another day at the zoo

After the family reunion a couple of weekends ago, Jay, Jenni and Keira stayed the night here in the Springs at a hotel. They got up bright and early the next day and came over and made us breakfast then we were off to the zoo. Dad and Kele decided to ditch us and went on a mountain bike ride instead, but we had fun without them..

Twenty-two

Today is my 22nd Birthday. That sounds old to me, but I know when I get older I will look back and think it was so young. When I was little I remember riding in the backseat of the car and looking at people driving and just wishing and praying that I could hurry up and be a grown up. How come when we are little we just can't wait to grow up? What I wouldn't give to be seven years old again.
And isn't it funny that when you were little it felt like it took foooooorever for your Birthday (and Christmas) to come around every year, and now it feels like I just celebrated.

I got spoiled today and got to take the day easy (even was given the chance to sleep in! Too bad I couldn't sleep). We had dinner at Chili's last night (with my parents) and Texas Roadhouse tonight with Kele, Cayden, Katie, Laura and her boys, Blake and Logan. Laura is an excellent cake decorator and made me my own little cake along with some cupcakes! She is already hired to make Cayden's birthday cake!

De-Ja-Vu

The other day, I think it really hit me that I am not going back to California. Weird, I know, since I've been back for over four months and all. I do feel settled here and I know this is our home. But I haven't given much thought beyond that.

We were driving over to Kele's brother's house for my nephew's birthday party. The road that leads to his house is the road that my Dad always drives to the airport, the back way, if you want to call it that. I had a de-ja-vu of when my Dad was speeding and he turned a corner pretty fast and Cayden said "gee!"- this was when he had just barely learned to talk. Then on the same ride, he went over a train-track with some speed and I know we literally got some air. (Sorry Dad). But it was a weird feeling I got, sort of hard to explain. I hated the feeling of driving to the airport to fly back home, I am so bad at goodbyes and those were no exception. My thought was that I was never going to have that feeling again! It was refreshing and made me really happy.

There are a few things I do miss about California, surprisingly. I miss our few and far between trips to Vegas to stay with my Uncle Jim and Aunt Lisa. They were always such good hosts and I miss getting to see the whole family. I wish we would've taken advantage of that more!
I miss the thrill I got when we actually got to go off base. Shopping at the outlets in Barstow was a lot of fun, followed by lunch at Chilis. I loved the feeling when I got to drive to Ontario and pick up my Mom and Sister from the airport, or when we would plan their flight back just so we could spend the day shopping before they left. Oh how I loved Ontario! We got to go to Super Target on a very rare occassion, and they had thee best Super Target I have ever been to there! Even their shopping carts were cooler!
I miss our weekly Starbucks dates, those were the best!!!! I miss going to the track with Chelsea. I miss the MOPS group. I miss the so un-crowded commissary and parking lots! And the cheap veternarian!

See, there are plently of things I miss about it.. but not enough to want to get on a plane and go back =)

Little artist baby

Cayden's first experience with paint! He loved it. Don't you love how he sucks on his top lip while he's concentrating?

Huh?

The other day, Cayden took a pair of his swimtrunks outside. For some reason, he wanted to hang them by the liner on the handle-bar of his trike. He tried and tried and tried for about 15 minutes before he finally hooked them on. Then, he was finished and just left them there and went onto the next thing. What a goof!
